This is a paid position, open to Malaysian candidates only. The position is to start immediately.
The Junior Conservation Officer will help with the successful running of the projects, including the co-supervision of all volunteers & interns, project fieldwork, data entry and analysis. We are looking for an enthusiastic person willing to work on a small island for 1 year (with the possibility to extend). The perfect candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team to implement conservation projects with limited resources.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with our partner Batu Batu Resort to deliver integrated conservation experiences.
Engage with resort guests, local communities, and school groups through education and outreach activities.
Promote TIC’s conservation efforts through talks, eco-tourism activities, and merchandise/adoption programs.
Coordinate and guide interns and volunteers, supporting their orientation, training, and field experience.
Manage daily operations at our hatchery, ensuring data collection, nest monitoring, and hatchling releases follow protocol.
Assist in field surveys, turtle patrols, coral monitoring, biodiversity tracking, and habitat research.
Help maintain TIC’s facilities and field equipment in clean, operational condition.
Who You Are
Passionate about conservation, sustainability, and community engagement.
Comfortable with fieldwork in a remote island setting.
Degree in Biological sciences or other related fields
Fluency in written and spoken Bahasa and English.
A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Flexible, proactive, and able to work independently with guidance.
Excellent presentation skills and ability to interact well with tourists and local communities.
Shows excellent initiative and work ethic - communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Bonus: experience in marine biology, environmental education, or related volunteer work.
