PLEASE Help Us KEEP GOING THROUGH THE COVID-19 FALLOUT

A donation of just RM 100 (USD 23) will allow us to protect one endangered sea turtle and its habitats. Our funding target of RM 400,000 (USD 93,000) will allow TIC to run its full projects for the next 12 months.

In 2019 Tengah Island Conservation (TIC) released 3,799 endangered sea turtles, mapped and surveyed 1 million square metres of coral reef and seagrass, removed 13 tonnes of marine debris from the reefs around Pulau Tengah, Johor and delivered environmental awareness programmes to over 500 students in Mersing.

With the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, this important work has all but stopped.

To date, TIC has largely depended on tourism revenues for funding. With COVID-19, this revenue source has dried-up and there are great uncertainties as to when they will return. We are now appealing for your support to keep our important projects running. Your donations will allow us to continue to protect the incredible natural assets where we are located.

Economic hardship in the area has increased risks to biodiversity as the communities seek alternative livelihoods. Protecting the incredible natural assets around the Johor Islands and engaging local stakeholders in protection and sustainable tourism will bring critical revenues to the local community when tourists are able to return.

Please help us by giving what you can and sharing the campaign widely. Every little helps, thank you!

How exactly will my donation be used?

Your donation will immediately enable our conservation scientists to continue the following work at full capacity, including:

* essential staff salaries (scientists, boatmen)
* fuel and manpower for sea turtle patrols
* turtle hatchery management
* coral reef surveys
* beach and underwater clean-ups

Once the immediate crisis is over your donations will help us to continue our:

* outreach work with local schools
* support local tourism-reliant communities recover and become more resilient

100% of your donation will directly benefit our conservation projects (minus Give Asia administrative fees).
